So at first I thought - oh, heck, come on, a pay raise isn't going to hurt anything.
Then I saw that Pelosi makes 200K+.
I know we live in a capitalist society but - holy cow. How much money does a person need to live?
I keep thinking, oh, if we just made $25K more (which still doesn't put us in six-figure income bracket), life would be fine (and that $25K is to cover my son's autism treatments).
oops, did I digress into ranting? sorry 'bout that....
Aerin, it gets worse when you realize that just about every member of the Senate is a millionaire and so are many of the House members. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with that. And I think lawmakers should be paid for their public service (that $6/day figure sounds good to me). But then you factor in that these bozos' unwillingness/lack of ability to do their job is one of the major reasons we are where we are...
There's plenty of criminal BS perpetrated by GSax to get angry about, but personally I don't blame them for this one.
However, Rep. Doggett is the perfect example of an asshat who doesn't deserve a raise. He spends much of his time trying to close these corporate tax loopholes, but he either purposefully fails to understand or is incapable of understanding that 35% and 38% tax brackets are what drives "evil corporations" offshore in the first place.
