The Lolita Effect

If you’re reading this, you already know that today Ello is hosting a Q&A with Dr. Gigi Durham, author of The Lolita Effect: The Media Sexualization of Young Girls and What We Can Do About It. So what the hell are you doing here? Go. Go now.

When I think about all the ridiculous media-driven bullshit my two young daughters will all too soon have to navigate through to reach adulthood intact, not to mention b-b-b-b-boys and s-s-s-s-se-seh-sehhh-stuff, I feel kinda like this:

And no, that’s not Hayden Christensen driving the boat.

A well dropped name is an asset for ever.

It's what the boat is doing to the waves, for me.

I've been there and have 2 daughters 16 and 20. I have fastened my seatbelt.

For those of you keeping score at home, that's 14 Hayden hits today. 4 of which clicked through to Ello's Lolita Q&A.

You know, BT - I don't have the Google-able thingie on my blog- and I did that on purpose - because I thought I'd keep it kind of quiet. Now I'm not so sure. Does it bug you when people do that bounce thing?

Also - do you mind if I link you?(Guess what - I figured out how to do that all by myself. I'm a veritable genius. Sure I am.)

AND Pete, WO?

No, no, no. I was trying to see how many Hayden worshipers I could send over to Ello's. You know, knock some sense into em, sort of thing.

Oh, got it. So it's fun. Cool.

Well this sucks. I thought you were going to talk about Hayden.

There's a kid in my son's class named Hayden. He's a bit out to lunch, but his brother is a real piece of work.

Robin, I would be honored if you'd link to me (same goes for anyone with the smarts and humor to read BT's blog, except for you people who googled Hayden Christenson and are having trouble understanding what's going on). Let me know if/when you're ever ready for the return favor, Robin.

Yep- Pete- I'm ready. Link away, please!

BT you are so funny! I can't stand Hayden Cantactson. Drives me bonkers.

And you were great in discussions. I am so late doing my blog reading because I am finally trying to do the google reader thing and it takes a long time to set up!!!!! Argh. I must be doing something wrong!
